Guidance, Scholarship and Testing Center

Aims to provide professional assistance to students by facilitating optimum human growth and development of a well-functioning individual primarily by helping their present future in accordance with their abilities, interests, and needs.

This Students Center is an integral part of St. Alexius College educational system and is directly under the supervision of the Executive Vice President.

Objectives

Help students attain better self-understanding by providing them with valid data about their aptitudes, values, interests and personality traits.

Assist students develop their personal and interpersonal effectiveness, leadership and social responsibility as formulated in the Student Development Program.

Enhance the decision-making and critical thinking skills of students particularly on matters related to personal-social, educational and career concerns.

Collaborate with the identified support system to maintain and strengthen the total Guidance Program.

Programs and Services

To attain the goal to which the Guidance, Scholarship and Testing center aims to attain, the Center designed programs and services to promote a holistic approach to the growth and development of every member of the Alexian Studentry. The existing basic services offered are the individual appraisal, placement, referral, follow up, information, and counseling services.

Individual Planning Assistance

This service supports and facilitates students' needs in developing and managing their personal-social, educational and career goals and plans.

This is carried out through provision of personalized direction conducted in groups or individual basis, such as:

  • Orientation of new students - Freshmen and Transferees
  • Assistance in shifting of courses
  • Personalized career and educational planning
  • Individualized personal-social enhancement assistance
  • System Support

    This component involves the administrative and management of activities necessary to support and enhance the guidance program. It comprises:

  • Consultation, networking with CHED, PRC, DOLE, DEPEd and other private agencies or organizations
  • School and community relations
  • Research and Evaluation
  • Community Outreach
  • Public Relation
  • Responsive Services

    This service includes counseling, consultation, and referral activities to meet the immediate needs and concerns of students. This consists of:

  • Personal counseling
  • Crisis counseling
  • Agency and specialists referrals
  • Consultation with teachers, staff parents and other support groups
  • Advocacy program
  • Honors Program
  • Alumni Data Book
  • Job Fair coordination with DOLE XII
  • Guidance Curriculum

    A component of guidance that focuses on the holistic development of students in physical, intellectual, personal, social, moral and spiritual areas.

    Thus, activities conducted are geared toward developing skills on value clarification, self-knowledge and direction, problem-solving and decision making, and communication leadership as well as deepening one’s spirituality.

    Testing Services

    This service is designed for the following purposes:

  • To gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the student based on the test results.
  • To help in resolving problems on selection and placement decisions, personality assessment, interest and values inventories and aptitude testing.
  • Classification of Test Administered and Interpreted

    Admission Tests

    Admission Tests

    These tests are utilized for employment, and promotion purposes in addition to college admission and determining a student's academic placement at St. Alexius. This service is also provided to the community's affiliated private and public institutions, including the Surallah Local Government Unit (LGU), the Marbel and Polomolok Water District, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

    Counseling

    The Counseling Service provides personalized support to help students navigate their personal, social, educational, and career development. Through one-on-one guidance, goal-setting strategies, and proactive planning, it empowers learners to make informed decisions, overcome challenges, and build a clear path toward personal growth and professional success.

    Scholarships

    At St. Alexius College, we believe that financial limitations should never hinder academic potential. Our Scholarship and Financial Assistance Program is designed to empower deserving students by providing access to quality education for both Integrated School Department and College Department with two key avenues: Institution-Funded Scholarships and Government-Funded Scholarships
