The St. Alexius College, Inc. Basic Education Department has, for its general objective, the formation of the well-founded whole person, upright Christian and the patriotic and enlightened citizen. It strives to produce boys and girls of faith and wisdom of courage and loyalty, of determination and self-control and with a sense of mission. It prepares the students, especially those with special needs, through the acquisition of the basic knowledge, values, attitudes and adaptive skills needed for higher learning or total integration in the community.
Specifically, the Basic Education Department aims to:
- Provide the students with opportunities to develop themselves spiritually, intellectually, socially, morally and physically;
- Provide students skills in thinking, speaking, writing and other communicative means of developing their ability to react intelligently to their surroundings and other situations;
- Instill in the students desirable attitudes in understanding oneself, people, races, places and times through opportunities of living harmoniously with others, thereby promoting a keen sense of self, of family, of community and of country;
- Provide opportunities for children with special needs to become self-advocates to speak for themselves and arrest further the handicapping conditions.
