The BS Tourism Management Program an integrated coverage of the fundamental concepts to the determinants of tourism development and the components of the tourism system. It presents TOURISM from the perspective of a phenomenon, an industry and as a field of study or research.
Specifically, the BSTM program aims to:
- explain people’s motivations for traveling
- understand how tourism may affect destinations
- appreciate the nature of the tourism industry and tourism product
- identify the various sectors that comprise the tourism industry and the role played by each sector in the production, distribution and delivery of tourism goods and services
- understand the impact of macro-environmental trends on the operations of tourism businesses
- have an understanding of career options in the tourism industry
- know the impacts of General Agreement of Trade and Services (GATS) on tourism development
